  • Features

LinkguaBooks is a reader that uses semantics – the study of the meaning of words – to change how we interact with the web. The software works on multiple platforms: articles from the Internet, e-books and your documents. LinkguaBooks scans text through semantic analysis, identifying and underlining key terms. When these key terms are clicked, LinkguaBooks generates and displays additional information, without ever leaving the original page. The result? A seamless way to interact with multiple layers and textures of text.

Whereas dictionaries show multiple definitions for a particular word, LinkguaBooks uses semantics to precisely define words according to context. For instance, LinkguaBooks understands that in the context of a Woody Allen movie review, "Celebrity" refers to his film, not to the generic definition.

Today’s Internet is rich with images, music, and videos. LinkguaBooks brings media to text – on the same screen. On a simple and intuitive user interface, the software identifies and displays media material relevant to each underlined key word. Additionally, LinkguaBooks generates "smart playlists" of media, which can be purchased at the click of a button. If you are reading a "pop-culture analysis of Lady Gaga", LinkguaBooks allows you to hear her music, see her outfits, and watch her perform – without leaving the original text.

LinkguaBooks can identify references to a buyable product in text (for instance, ingredients in a recipe or songs in a music review). Once clicked, these products can be purchased directly onsite – individually or as an automatically generated wish list.

    Semantic Grouping

LinkguaBooks analyzes and categorizes key terms in a document according to theme ("art", "medicine", "politics"). The software generates color-coordinated "category tags", that allow people to see the overarching themes of an article. According to Nielsen Reports, the average user abandons web pages within 10 to 20 seconds; this software enables a quick understanding of online content, and engages users to explore further.

    Social Media

Online connectivity has skyrocketed through sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. LinkguaBooks connects to these social media platforms for an all inclusive user experience.

Since each individual title, the reader not only access to information available on the network, but other titles of the same library, thus become the real 'space' where different authors talk to each other, different times and different countries. Thus, access to a book brings up a whole universe.

    Scored books

Thanks to new technologies, it is no longer necessary to record each title individually. Today it is possible to create a single set of notes that feed the entire catalog, and will be updated constantly. In addition, notes are enriched with semantic Web technologies and Web 3.0.

Some others incorporate digital editions and dictionaries, but we are the first to lemmatized integrity of the texts. Lemmatized all text means that the reader can view each of the words in the text, whether inflected forms (plurals, feminine, conjugated forms of a verb). This enables readers with only partial mastery of his language access to the classics, as they will have a tool to aid far superior to using a dictionary, where you can not find inflected forms of words reading. In addition, the texts include dictionaries in three other languages: English, German and French. These are customizable, so you can incorporate other languages, depending on the needs of the readers.

    Information about places or characters

Names of characters or places so that the reader who is curious to expand information is just a click to get it, without leaving the book and go sailing the internet. With the identification of the toponyms in the texts, it is possible at the end of the book to provide a map where all the aforementioned places are indicated in the content. This will give readers a spatial representation of the work that will certainly enrich their understanding (consider, for example, the utility of this material in the texts of literature conquests).

Through multiple layers of meaning and interaction, LinkguaBooks creates an enhanced user experience. Additionally, the software maximizes profitability for content producers in four ways.

LinkguaBooks improves web performance using data from Google Analytics and Alexa, we evaluated LinkguaBooks on three metrics: time on site per user, pages viewed per session, and bounce rate (the percentage of people who exited after a single page). Because it generates multiple layers of content, LinkguaBooks vastly outperformed industry norms, producing more valuable ad space. * Note that these values are subject to change because the site is in beta testing.

LinkguaBooks improves targeted advertisement. Currently, targeted ads rely on users’ limited search terms (if a person searches "fitness", they’ll receive gym ads). Because LinkguaBooks is powered by semantics, it can (a) assign each key-word to a broader category and (b) scan each article for category distribution (for example: 32% politics, 24% health, etc.) As a result, LinkguaBooks obtains a quantified understanding of the type of content consumed by an individual user, enabling more targeted ads.

LinkguaBooks expands ad potential on site, without compromising the user experience. A traditional website has limited ad space (i.e. banners on the top, bottom, and side). Because LinkguaBooks generates internal pages for each key-word, the potential space for advertisement is maximized, without becoming visually obtrusive to users.

LinkguaBooks enables direct shopping (see features description). LinkguaBooks can identify references to a buyable product in text (for instance, ingredients in a recipe or songs in a music review). Once clicked, these products can be purchased directly onsite – individually or as an automatically generated wish list. Because this service relies on third party commerce sites (such as Amazon), it remains in demo.
